Speakers:

Kyle Davis
Supervisor of Quality Control
Mead Johnson Nutrition

Kyle Davis, a graduate of Purdue University's Department of Chemistry, has been a key member of Mead Johnson Nutrition's quality department for the past 12 years. Mead Johnson, a leader in the infant formula market, is committed to using the most advanced science to ensure the accuracy and safety of its products. Kyle has primarily focused on spectroscopy-related analytical instruments, specializing in minerals determination. Recently, his work has involved using microwave technology, specifically Milestone ultraWAVE, to achieve precise digestion of formula for minerals determination by Inductively Coupled Plasma – Mass Spectrometers. Mead Johnson currently operates seven ultraWAVE systems at its Evansville, Indiana location.

Andrea Mara
Research Assistant
University of Sassari (Italy)

Andrea Mara, PhD, is a research assistant working at the University of Sassari in Italy. With a PhD degree in chemical sciences and technologies, his expertise lies in analytical chemistry, particularly using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) for elemental analysis of food, environmental, and clinical matrices. His competencies encompass the development and validation of analytical methods and statistical data processing through multivariate analysis techniques. His PhD dissertation investigated elemental fingerprinting for food authentication and valorization.

Gianpaolo Rota
Product Manager
Milestone, Inc.

As product manager at Milestone, Gianpaolo Rota develops new methods and applications, helping customers make the best use of the company’s technology. Currently, he focuses on lab tests, application research, and customer application support for performing microwave digestion and mercury determination. He independently performs, researches, and develops new or modified methods and techniques when standard ones are inadequate.

Rota joined Milestone 20 years ago, mainly focused on digestion, clean chemistry, and ashing lines, as well as validation procedures. He has installed Milestone instruments in Italy and all over the world, supplying support for training and chemical applications.

Rota has participated in countless seminars around the world—more than 500—on sample preparation methods and analytical techniques on each Milestone product line.

Eric Farrell
Product Specialist
Milestone, Inc

Eric Farrell, BS, is the product specialist for the digestion and clean chemistry lines at Milestone Inc. Farrell obtained his bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Union College in 2005, with a focus in inorganic chemistry. Prior to joining Milestone, he worked in the particle characterization field as a laboratory manager and in domestic and international sales, where he supported sales and applications across all product lines.

Mirco Rossetti
Product Specialist
Milestone srl

Mirco Rossetti, MS, earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the University of Milan, Italy, in 2016, after presenting his bachelor’s degree thesis on the differences between environmental pollution caused by emissions from wood and pellet stoves.

After a year-long project in collaboration with the University of Belgrade, he received a master’s degree in chemical sciences, with a thesis about the analytical identification and quantification of polyphenolic content in different kind of wines by HPLC-MS systems.

After working at Eurofins Biolab in Milan as a chemical analyst in the pharmaceutical packaging quality control lab, he joined Milestone as an application specialist, focused on digestion, clean chemistry and ashing lines, as well as validation procedures.

After having installed several Milestone instruments in Italy, Rossetti is now involved in holding webinars and supplying chemical support for customer training and applications development all over the world.

Luca Rota
Application Specialis
tMilestone srl

Luca Rota, MSc, graduated from the University of Milano-Bicocca with a bachelor’s degree; his thesis covered the construction of an oxide layer and its characterization for a new transistor-based electrochemical sensor.
Rota then received a master’s degree from the University of Milan in 2013, with a thesis on the optimization of the heterogeneous catalysis condition in the reduction of nitrobenzene by transition metal complexes, implementing innovative organic ligands.

He first worked for a chemical formulation company, then in 2018 he joined a chemical laboratory for food packaging analysis, where he used and gained experience in gas chromatography techniques. In 2023 he joined Milestone in the applications team as a product specialist, focusing on the product line for extraction of environmental organic pollutants and nutritional fat assessment for food and feed samples, and on the mercury line. Rota is now actively promoting the product lines, providing application support and contributing to the improvement and continuous training of users.
