Fluorescence spectroscopy systems from Edinburgh Instruments (Livingston, UK) were installed at the new Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC) in Thailand. The FLS908 fluorescence spectrometer and the LP980 transient absorption spectrometer are being used to investigate and improve the efficiency and photochemical characteristics of organic solar cell technology.
The goal of researchers at VISTEC is to reduce global consumption and dependence on fossil fuels by improving the overall efficiency of light collection and by simplifying the manufacture of this type of organic solar cell.
