Wei Gao
Wei Gao, an Assistant Professor of Medical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology, is the 2022 recipient of the Pittsburgh Conference Achievement Award. He will receive the award on Monday, March 14, during a Pittcon 2022 virtual session that starts at 1:00 pm EST. The award is given annually to a researcher who has made a significant and independent impact in the area of analytical chemistry within the first 10 years after receiving a doctoral degree.
Gao was chosen for the award based on his significant contributions in analytical chemistry, particularly in the field of wearable electrochemical biosensors for personalized medicine. In the award session, he will speak about the opportunity for developing wearable devices toward predictive analytics and treatment. He will discuss his efforts in developing fully integrated skin-interfaced biosensors for non-invasive molecular analysis in a talk titled “Skin-Interfaced Wearable Sweat Biosensors.” He will also talk about his recent work on self-powered battery-free electronic skins and mental-health-based biosensors for multiplexed COVID-19 diagnosis and management.
