On March 4, HORIBA, a producer in analytical and measurement technology, announced the addition of four new products to its instrument portfolio. The release included a new advanced molecular fingerprinting system, a Raman spectroscopy screening tool, and a new atomic force microscopy (AFM) platform. These products can be used to support cell culture media analysis, vaccine development, and protein/biomolecule characterization.
At Pittcon 2025, which will be held March 1–5 in Boston, Massachusetts, the company will launch two new products. One is Veloci, a biopharma analyzer with A-TEEM Technology (simultaneous Absorbance, Transmittance, and Fluorescence Excitation-Emission-Matrix (EEM), which provides advanced molecular fingerprinting for life science applications. Utilizing label-free intrinsic fluorescence analysis, the analyzer can be used in various applications, including monoclonal antibody discrimination, cell media monitoring, vaccine characterization, protein stability analysis, and adeno-associated virus (AAV) quantification.
“The pharmaceutical industry is increasingly using fluorescence spectroscopy, and more specifically, A-TEEM for QA/QC and as a Process Analytical Technology (PAT) for manufacturing control. A-TEEM provides similar information to mass spectrometry and chromatography, but faster and easier, typically no consumables, while like any optical technique is easily implemented,” said Andrew Whitley, Vice President and Field Officer for the HORIBA Life Science Business Field in a press release.
The company also released the PoliSpectra Rapid Raman Plate Reader (RPR), a high-throughput Raman screening tool that uses Raman spectroscopy to measure 96 wells in one minute. The system performs non-destructive analysis for real-time monitoring of reactions. When combined with patent-pending rapid Raman reading technology, along with a plate heater, it also supports live process monitoring through rapid plate reading and transfer, at reaction temperature. The RPR system was designed to support time-sensitive applications in drug discovery and formulation, according to Aashish Tuladhar, Raman Plate Reader product manager at HORIBA.
In addition to the products announced at this year’s Pittcon, HORIBA also announced the launch of the SignatureSPM system. Built on an automated atomic force microscopy (AFM) platform and integrated with a Raman/photoluminescence spectrometer, this system can enable simultaneous, colocalized measurements for measuring the properties of materials.
