The 11th Confocal Raman Imaging Symposium, hosted by WITec, will include a talk by Albert Zink from the EURAC-Institute for Mummies and the Iceman about Raman investigations of the Tyrolean Iceman.
The 11th Confocal Raman Imaging Symposium, hosted by WITec, will include a talk by Albert Zink from the EURAC-Institute for Mummies and the Iceman about Raman investigations of the Tyrolean Iceman. The symposium, taking place September 29–October 1 in Ulm, Germany, will cover various aspects of modern Raman microscopy, and provide insights into confocal Raman imaging and its applications.
Other symposium speakers include experts in Raman spectroscopy from academia and industry. The talks will highlight a range of Raman spectroscopy applications in life science, nanotechnology, materials science, graphene research, and climate research.
Technical talks about the general principles, microscope configurations, and resolutions will also be featured at the symposium. Further conference highlights include contributed talks and a poster session, to which all attendees are invited to submit their abstracts, the conference dinner with the best poster award ceremony, and a demonstration of WITec’s new RISE Microscope for correlative Raman imaging and scanning electron microscopy.
Best of the Week: EAS Conference Coverage, IR Spectroscopy, Microplastics

FT-IR Analysis of pH and Xylitol Driven Conformational Changes of Ovalbumin–Amide VI Band Study
November 21st 2024This study uses Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy to analyze how the globular protein ovalbumin's secondary structures transition under varying pH conditions in the presence of the cosolvent xylitol, highlighting the role of noncovalent interactions in these conformational changes.
